Here at Corazza we have a dual purpose: to benefit the planet, and to benefit people.

As of today there are 300 new trees in the world every year!

Thanks to our collaboration with Treedom, we're bringing positive change to the environment and to people's lives.

Today they're just seedlings, but tomorrow our trees will provide food, shelter and income opportunities, as well as helping to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.

We're growing trees in 5 countries around the world where they will help absorb CO2 and bear fruit, boosting the livelihoods of local communities:

Cameroon

In Cameroon, Treedom focuses on planting a wide variety of trees species, to ensure fruiting times are staggered throughout the year. Avocados are ready in April, then during September and October it's time to harvest the citrus fruits, and from October until January the cocoa trees bear fruit. We also plant plenty of banana trees, which grow fruit all year round. This technique allows the farmers involved in the projects to harvest fruit at regular intervals, bringing them a steady a source of income throughout the year.

Colombia

Treedom's work in Colombia is based in the Sierra Nevada region of Santa Marta. New tree-planting projects here involve the Wiwa indigenous community, who have a long tradition of cacao production – their technique involves planting cacao trees alongside forest and fruit species native to the area.

Kenya

Treedom has undertaken multiple projects in Kenya over the years, which have involved different partners to pursue diverse environmental and social goals. All the farmers involved have been trained not only to carry out tree-management and care activities, but also supported in developing collaborative and community-based activities. Some projects, for example, specifically engage groups of women to help strengthen their financial independence and wider rights while others promote awareness of environmental conservation.

Madagascar

Treedom's projects are located on the edge of the Vohiday Forest. Here, as in many other rural areas, slash and burn cultivation which takes land from the forest is still widespread. To counter this, we offer a long-term alternative to this method. By using a mix of forest species and fruit trees, we work to preserve local biodiversity and allow local communities to benefit from multiple harvest seasons throughout the year.

Tanzania

The vastness and diversity of Tanzania make it possible to carry out different projects and also to experiment with new practices. In Tanzania, we developed the first projects which included beekeeping as a practice to enrich the biodiversity of the region and offer alternative income opportunities. We have also planted mangroves here to preserve and regenerate the natural environment.

With Treedom's agroforestry projects, we contribute to 10 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN member states for 2030.

No poverty: 
Farmers can benefit from multiple harvests and increased income opportunities.

Zero hunger:
Trees improve the health of existing crops and their fruits enrich farmers' diets.

Quality education: 
Farmers learn how to build nurseries, practice grafting, and manage forestry sustainably.

Gender equality: 
Women acquire skills and responsibilities, gaining opportunities for economic independence.

Climate change: 
Trees improve air quality, and help lower temperatures by removing CO2 from the atmosphere.

Life on land: 
Trees combat soil erosion and desertification. They provide shelter and nourishment for various plant and animal species, promoting biodiversity.

Partnership for the goals: 
The projects involve NGOs, associations, institutions and local communities in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Italy.

Decent work and economic growth: 
By harvesting and selling fruits, farmers diversify their income and in some cases start micro-entrepreneurship initiatives.

Reducing inequalities: 
Local people gain an income opportunity and acquire skills to build a sustainable future.

Responsible consumption and production: 
Farmers use reclaimed materials and locally available resources, keeping travel to a minimum.
